Marie may have set her sights on a career in advertising, but while studying she ended up enjoying the graphic design units more. Today she revels in her creative role and sees getting paid as a bonus for doing what she loves best. She’s relishes new challenges and her greatest sense of accomplishment comes from seeing the final product.
While she considers Salvador Dali and his bizarre ‘dream world’ as a key influence, her inspiration comes from the world around her. Her simplicity of design and focus on typography is informed by the colours, shapes, patterns, experiences and stories of day to day life.
Marie is a true Generation Y. She’s at home in a digital work and the internet brings the world to her fingertips. It’s her dictionary, encyclopedia, music, movies, photo library and conduit to keeping connected with friends, family and colleagues all over the world.
She’s at home in the boutique environment of Dessien. The friendly, easy going and relaxed atmosphere feels like a creative family to her.
When she is not creating at her computer she likes to kick back with light-hearted, quirky novel or her all time favourite movie “The Pirates of the Caribbean” - Johnny Depp, Orlando Bloom and a box of popcorn - what more do you need! She has a penchant for songs and songsters with the word “day” in the title - U2’s “New Year’s Day” and “Beautiful Day” and “Time of My Life” by Green Day. A passion only matched by her love of clothes, including a top from her fourth birthday emblazoned with Tweety and Sylvester on it – it is sure to come back into fashion sometime!
